Learn to Play Hockey - Summer 2010 2010-2011 Season Registration 2010-2011travel teams evaluations: Mites - Wednesdays 4/21 and 4/28 - 6:10PM-7:10PM The Wintersport Royals proudly announce their coaches for the 2010-2011 season: Birth Year 2002 and younger Tim grew up as a Royal before moving to the junior Flyer organization. He has assisted with the atoms for the past 2 seasons and is excited about making the jump to head coach. Tim currently has a Level 1 coaching certification. He has 2 sons, one of whom will be leveling for this team. He and his wife, Stephanie, live in Glenside and are expecting their 3rd child this summer. Birth Year 2000-2001 Tim has been coaching with the Wintersport Royals for 10 years, leading teams from Atoms to Peewees. He coached the Squirt A team to the DVHL championship in 2006 and took the Peewee AA team to districts in 2008. He currently has a Level 3 USA hockey certification. He is married and lives in Holland with his daughter and 2 sons.
Squirt A/B - Steve Boyce Steve has been coaching hockey for 10 years and has been with Wintersport for 5. He is a Level 4 coach and has coached from the Squirt to the Midget level. Steve is also a Level 2 referee and has been an ice hockey ref for the past 8 years. He lives in Willow Grove with a son and a daughter.
Birth Year 1998 - 1999 Doug grew up in Canada and played minor and junior hockey in the OMHA/OHA. He has coached from the PeeWee to the Midget levels and joined the Royals organization as a coach last year. Doug has a Level 3 coaching certification. He lives in Philadelphia with his wife and two sons. Birth Year 1996 - 1997 Tom started his playing career at Face Off Circle. He played there for 6 years before moving on to Archbishop Wood. After stepping away from the game for a couple of years, Tom got back in, playing roller hockey and men's league. Recently, he was bit by the coaching bug and has spent much of his time focused there. He was an assistant with the Lady Hawks out of Face Off Circle and he has been with Wintersport for 3 seasons, 2 which resulted in playoff runs. Tom is currently a Level 4 USA hockey coach. Bantam A/B Gold - Jeff Schmidt Jeff began playing key in the DVHL with Bristol Blazers. He then moved to Tier I, playing for the Junior Flyers. Jeff went on to play juniors with the Little Flyers, the Neepawa Natives in the MJHL, the New England Classics in the EJHL, and the York Jr Rangers in the OPJHL. He began playing professionally in 1997 in the Central Hockey League. He moved up to the United Hockey League, and then the ECHL where he spent 5 seasons with the Trenton Titans, the Reading Royals, as well as other teams. He is currently the coaching director at Wintersport. After spending last season co-coaching a Bantam team, he is looking forward to leading a team. He and his wife have 1 son and 3 daughters. They live in Kintersville.
The final level of each team would be determined by the level of the players who register
and evaluate at each level, with the exception of the Mite team whose level will be determined by the DVHL.
The goal would be to field the highest level team at each age group.
Session I: 4/13 - 5/18/2010 Congratulations to the Wintersport Royals Bantam team on winning the bronze medal at the Can Am Challenge in Lake Placid, NY.
