Attention all Parents - Check your players helmet stickers!

If the date on the sticker has expired, the product is no longer certified. This has been the policy set forth by the Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC) for at least seven years, possibly longer. This expiration date is required by HECC, not by the manufacturers. Enforcement is done by parents, players, coaches, and then referees. These groups have to understand that an expiration date does exist, and that they should abide by it. Any time we have a change in the ASTM standard, NFHS allows three years for the new helmet to become part of the playing rules. USA Hockey does not have any waiting period.

Also, USA Hockey DOES NOT allow the use of Helmets that have the HECC Stickers REMOVED or PAINTED over. Referees have been informed to remove players from a game until they wear a  helmet with proper certification.
